I stumbled upon the most delightful article today. The Retronaut, an online encyclopedia of historical pictures, articles and miscellaneous tidbits, had a before and after view of the models Gil Elvgren used to create his sensational pin-ups. The differences and similarities are interesting to behold and all the more striking because the original pictures are in black and white. Here are a few of my favourites:
